CONSULTATION
A Consultation involves our designer visiting your property to collaborate with you to determine your specific lighting needs and your lifestyle.
We will start with you inside your home to go through our portfolio to show you some lighting options. While inside your home, we will talk with you about the view from inside your home through certain key windows, so that our design will include landscape focal points that are viewed from inside your home.
We will walk the property with you and will take pictures and or sketch a drawing of your property noting all the points of interest. We then take all the information gathered from the meeting and design a lighting system exclusively for you. The design will enhance the architectural features of your home as well as accenting your landscaping focal points and convert your outdoors into a natural extension of your living space.
Our designer will then send you a proposal for your consideration. The details of the lighting design are not included on a Consultation, but can be purchased from us.
Consultation Fees:
- A local Consultation for your property in Atlanta and the surrounding cities is free of charge.
- A Consultation outside the Atlanta area can cost from $125.00 to $1500.00 plus travel expenses depending on your location and the size of the job. Please contact us to discuss at 770-844-1760.
Consultation Includes:
- Meeting with you to ask questions, review portfolio, discuss intentions and your lifestyle.
- Gather interior atmosphere data to establish the interior to exterior views of your home.
- Detailed exterior home views to assess landscape, discover focal features, and gather site data: elevations, trees, ponds, walkways, water features, and outdoor gathering places.
- We will send you a proposal for your consideration.
DESIGN
Custom Design
The Design request includes all the steps involved in the Consultation plus a professional computer generated drawing (CAD) detailing all aspects of the proposal. Upon signing a contract with us to install your lighting system, we will credit 50% of the design fee to your installation invoice.
Custom Build
Over the years, The Outdoor Lights, Inc. has created many unique lighting fixtures. We continually collaborate with artists and vendors across the country and around the world to design and build custom fixtures that you will find no where else. We are so confident in these fixtures, that we offer a lifetime warranty on the workmanship on everything that is custom built. INSTALLATION
The Outdoor Lights, Inc operates under both a Low Voltage and High Voltage Electrical License and we have been recognized by the Better Business Bureau. You can trust our professional installers because we have been enrolled in the Drug Free Workplace Program since 2004 and have volunteered to E-Verify all employees to confirm they are legally able to work in the United States. Our installation crew leader has been employed with us since 2003. He and the entire crew go through constant training and testing to ensure you a trouble free installation. Furthermore, we carry liability insurance to keep our crew members as well as our customers protected in case of an accident. We take these precautions so that your experience with The Outdoor Lights, Inc. is exceptional from beginning to end.
For any project in the Southeast U.S., we can install and service your lighting system. For those customers that we design for outside of the Southeast, we can help you by supervising the job through a local qualified lighting firm. We will interview and research the background of any potential lighting contractor; to make sure you get a licensed, insured, and competent contractor that will professionally install your system. We will meet the contractor on site to strategically place each light as it was designed, and to make sure the job is completed per the design specifications. Our management fee depends on your location and the size of your lighting design. Please contact us for details.
How to choose a lighting contractor.
- Check for a Low Voltage license, Electrical License and a Business License
- Ask how long they have been in business.
- Research your contractor on the internet and on the BBB website.
- Make sure the contractor has adequate Insurance including workers compensation.
- Get the contract in writing. Make sure the contract lists exactly what work is to be performed and what the cost is. Get a list of the materials to be used, and how the warranties are structured.
- Ask for proof that the company participates in the Drug Free Workplace program.
- Ask for proof of the Soil and Erosion Control certificate.
- Check their references, and ask if you can view some of their completed projects.
SERVICE
In addition to The Outdoor Lights' extensive design and build services, we offer maintenance programs to optimize your investment. As the seasons come and go, Mother Nature assures constant change to your property. Let us monitor and manage your lighting system with proper maintenance to ensure the affects of the original design is sustained year after year.
Our Premium Service is recommended annually. We can also work with you to customize an agreement based on your specific needs, for example quarterly or semi-annually service if you prefer. At The Outdoor Lights, our team takes pride in providing superior workmanship. Our service technicians are fully insured and offer a safe and reliable service for your lighting system.
Premium Annual Service Agreement (PAS) includes the following:
- We replace every Low Voltage lamp (bulb) and guarantee them for 1 year from date of replacement as long as they are not operated for more than 6 hours per night.
- We test and reset your timer to your specifications and change battery if applicable.
- We clean the glass and adjust the angle on all fixtures.
- We trim any shrub growth from around all your fixtures, to allow proper illumination spread.
- Check the electrical load of each lighting wire run, to insure proper distribution of power from the transformer.
- There is a 1 hour minimum charge for labor.
Additional charges on (PAS) Service Agreement may apply for the following:
- Cost of all Low voltage lamps (bulbs) replaced.
- Cost of all materials used for repair or alterations to your lighting system.
- Travel Charge may apply beyond 30 mile radius of our Headquarters in Cumming, GA.
High Voltage Lighting: We service high voltage systems, including Moon Lights.
- Replace high voltage lamps. We recommended to replace burned out high voltage lamps (bulbs).

If your system was not installed by The Outdoor Lights, we will have to assess it before we can provide any service. We critically evaluate the transformer, the types of fixtures, the kind of wire used, and the type of connections used to determine if they are safe and reliable. We will give you an honest and straight forward opinion of your system, backed up by reasonable explanations if we believe your system poses any problems. If we believe any part of your system has an issue, we will give you our recommendations to upgrade your system. If you don't follow our recommendations, we will repair your system, but we cannot guarantee any of our repair work when the quality of equipment or workmanship is not maintained to our safety standards. There are some systems that we will not work on due to safety and insurance reasons. An evaluation fee of $75 to $160 will be charged depending on your location.
